Folding@home is a distributed computing project, that very simply stated, studies protein folding and misfolding. Protein folding is explained in more detail in the scientific background section.

Distributed Computing is a method of computer processing in which different parts of a program, or different portions of data, are processing simultaneously on two or more computers that are communicating with each other over a network, or through the internet.
[edit] What does this have to do with this site?
Honestly it does and it doesn't. I bought a PS3 and it came with a Folding@home client. And I started folding during my non-gaming time. I wanted to join a team but could find one that I liked. I tried to find a team that would depict how my favorite lifestyle is in the broadest terms possible.
Since most of my interests can fall under the term BDSM and since there was no other BDSM specific team I could find. I figured why not start one. And if other kinksters fold as well then they to can join Team BDSM.
